Epic Armageddon Mega Battle Wrocław 2025 pt:1

The first of (hopefully) many big Epic Armageddon Events!

Four armies of imperial defenders (3000 each) vs four armies of Orcs (3800 points each), 8 players, a LOT of beautifully painted miniatures and a custom scenario to fit it all!

Hive Secundus, a sprawling industrial machine before the green tide hit . Its manufactorums producing unimaginable amounts of goods, supporting several conflicts in the neighboring systems are now just a dream of the past

The siege of Hive Secundus is about to begin!

The full scenario/limits/goals/army composition etc. can be found here. I know it's in Polish but you can easily translate the doc :)
The short breakdown is:
  • Only painted miniatures (duh!)
  • Orcs gain points by:
    • Capturing the Imperial palace - 3VP
    • Destroying the Planetary defense cannon (there were two) - 1VP each
    • Kill any of the supreme commanders - 1VP per commander
    • Killing The Imperial defense commander "Yarrek" - 3VP
    • Clear the fortification line of Imperial defenders - 1VP
  • Imperials gain points by:
    • Keep both the Planetary guns alive - 1 VP
    • Controll the Imperial palace - 3 VP
Kill the Ork supreme commander - 1VP

  • Both sides gain additional points for killing units with a DC of 4 or more. Each such destroyed unit is worth 0.5 VP

DEFENDERS ARE READY ... ish. The first defense line is filled to the brim with brave imperials
Mostly the Steel legion infantry companies, some Krieg infantry and some imperial angels of death aka space marines aka. Imperial fists.

Imperial defenders in all their glory await the incoming horde

on the other side ZOUNDS of Orcs pumped by a cacophony of roars, wails, and the deafening grind of diesel, steam, and Emperor-knows-what-else engines, rumbles impatiently toward the city walls.

The Space Marines of the Imperial Fists Chapter held their positions on the left flank.

Since this was a four-versus-four game and I was acting as the overall coordinator for the Defenders, there was absolutely no way for me to keep track of everything — let alone with a camera in hand.
So the perspective shown here focuses mainly on the central section of the defense and the main gate, which lay on my left.

Unfortunately, this won’t be a fully exhaustive report — some details were simply lost in the sheer flood of epic moments.

The Orks opened their invasion by pushing forward a Great Gargant.

The bastard was loaded with the maximum number of power fields — the Meks had clearly done their homework.

Moments later, the Gunwagons rolled up as well, showering the Defenders with fire.
Thankfully, the fortification walls provided excellent protection for the infantry manning them.

The first good sign: the Manticore rocket artillery deployed behind the Governor’s Palace unleashed all its launchers at once, hammering the massive Ork Kult of Speed.

Nearly wiping it out completely (here would be the photo taken just before the rockets hit).

The opening moments of the siege seemed promising for the Defenders and even sparked a flicker of hope.

Despite their might, the Space Marines couldn’t fully cover the entire wall section assigned to them.
The far end had to be reinforced quickly by a Mechanized Infantry company under my command.

The cacophony on the ground was soon joined by one in the air, as the grey sky was slashed open by black exhaust trails from Ork fighter engines.

The first mistakes revealed themselves quickly.
Even though the AA batteries were hidden behind the wall line for cover, that unfortunately exposed them to enemy fighters. Placing them behind bunkers might have been wiser — or maybe it wouldn’t have changed anything.
Either way, the Ork aircraft locked onto the anti-air positions and began systematically eliminating them.

To make matters worse, the second Manticore battery failed its activation roll — all that destructive potential wasted for the turn.

A Super-Stompa lumbered toward the wall line, pelting the Defenders with every deranged weapon the Ork mind could conceive.
Fortunately, the reinforced walls absorbed the worst of it and kept most of the troops alive.

The company of super-heavy Shadow Sword tanks attempted to activate — and failed.

Their “safe” positioning turned out to be a liability, as only one of the three tanks had a firing angle on the enemy Super Gargant.

It managed to inflict only a single point of damage.

Meanwhile, the Ork fighters continued their precise strikes, tearing apart what remained of our anti-air defenses.

On the western flank, by sheer luck, the AA guns had been placed behind a bunker, putting them out of reach of the aircraft.
The Ork pilots shifted their focus toward the entrenched infantry instead, but once again the Imperial fortifications proved too tough for their firepower.

In the center, just west of the gate, things were becoming increasingly tense — the greenskin hordes were pressing harder and harder against the Defender line.

The Defenders fired reaction shots whenever possible, though with limited effect.
Against the Mega-Gargant strode the only Titan available to our side.

The Leman Russ tank company tried to blunt the advancing Ork waves with their powerful guns, but it did little to slow the assault.

Closer to the Governor’s Palace, the second Leman Russ company pushed forward and fired on a Stompa unit, but inflicted only minimal casualties.

On the West flank Ork infantry is pilin gup for a huge breakthrough assault.

This report was originally was supposed to be a single report but it grew to sucha a size and life got in the way so much that I am not sure when I will be able to finish it completely. That being said I really want to publish at least a part of it this year!
This is part one, Part four is almost finished (because I work in strange ways ;) ) stay tuned for more!
