Mordheim Wizards Estate & Necromancer Tower

Early 2020 I had a chance to play two three-player Mordheim games. Here's what happened in our part of the city of the damned!

Scenario 1. The wizard's estate.

The most dangerous team occupies the mage estate placed in the middle of the board the other two teams deploy on opposite ends of the table. The team which holds the mages house at the end of the game is the winner.

Elves deployed South behind some terrain.

Skaven occupy the floor in the middle of the ruined house.

Beastmen make use of the chaos and quickly advance towards the estate.

Beastmen hiding in the ruins crossing as little open terrain as possible closing in the distance on the target.

Elves try some shots with their crossbows but fail to do any damage.

Skaven pile up for a sling salvo.

But eventually, change their mind and go for the incoming Beastmen.

Skaven prepare for an assault.

Elves advance making use of cover.

Rat men prepare for an assault.

Beastmen prepare to charge.

Elves move upwards and fire a single bolt at the Beastmen.

That single (missed) bolt changes their attitude and they charge at the elves.

Leaving their flank/rear open to the Skaven.

Elves charge in.

And do some heavy damage.

The rat ogre fumbles it's charged and that saves me.

If you look carefully you see an elf on the right side of the picture it turns out that I actually left a hero behind a ruin I've completely lost him amidst the battle.

Scenario two. The necromancers tower

Bands are deployed in a triangle. In the centre of the triangle is the necromancer's tower. Each turn magic bolt shots from the tower to the furthest enemy in a group that is more than 18 inches away at the end of each turn there is a chance that a zombie will step out of the tower.

Skaven rushed towards the tower from the North West.

Elves approach the tower from the south.

Beastmen perform a frenzy charge ramming into the Skaven dealing heavy casualties at the base of the tower.

The rat-men suffer a few casualties and decide to run. It's better to fight another day than to fight a losing battle

The fairly blooded Beastmen wear the only opponent left on the battlefield, however, due to our slow pace, we have to end the game calling it a Beastmen victory since the elves were too far away from engaging them full head-on.

Game date: 2020.02.27
