Epic Armageddon Mega-Minigeddon

We did a new thing on our last game meeting-and It turned out better than expected so I would like to share it with you today. Maybe someone will also enjoy it or perhaps even refine the idea!

I am not the author of this idea, just the one who decided to write it down and publish it in the web!

We had a 6 player game-grill party and wanted to play something bigger.
A battle in which we could all participate and not get bogged down several hours.

The solution was something we called Mega-Minigeddon (Patent Pending).

Army conposition:
Each player prepares a 2000 point force, no restrictions apply, standard units, war engines, aircraft, all are available.

The warzone:
set up two 180 x 120 cm tables joined by the shorter edge, deploy terrains in normal 60x60 cm zone rules. We did not use a maximum terrain amount but 2-3 features per 60x60cm zone should be ok (check pictures for reference).

Next, separate the players into two teams of three.
In our case, it was 3x Orks vs 2x Imperial Guard and Sisters of Battle.

Devide the warzone into 3 sections, each 120x120cm.
Teams calculate their total strategy rating and the winners choose their table edge.

Once edges are selected each player determines at random (d3 roll) where he will be deployed on his team's table edge (one player per team board section).

Set up objectives using minigeddon rules (1 blitz and 1 take and hold) on "your" section of the big table.
Roll for first turn, check the difference in total strategy ratings and add the difference to the winning side (3+3+3 vs 3+2+2 gave a total of +2 to our opponents)

This can easily be overpowered when playing two marine armies vs two imperial guard armies (5+5 vs 2+2) but we did not have such a problem ;)

Sides activate one at a time, first all 3 players activate a single formation from their army, then the opposite team activates their formations (roll for activation as normal).

So Orks players A, B and C each activate one formation.
After that Imperial players, ABC each activate one formation
There is no initiative retaining so Eldar armies are at a disadvantage.

Below a few shots of our game. A lot of fun, quick and dynamic game which we ended in around 2 hours!
