The sun slowly crawled from the horizon throwing long shadows on the desert plains.


Despite its peaceful appearance the day was far from calm. The hyper-aggressive Tao coalition fleet entered the system all guns blazing. Planetary defense installations were quickly overwhelmed and an invasion began! One of the first targets was the planetary governor's palace.
The majority of the local Human Defence Force (HDF) gathered around it to protect their leader.


One infantry company secured the closest water source.


While the rest used any and all available cover.


The invaders came from the north using as much natural cover as possible.



*We decided to make the game a little more interesting by starting with a > < deployment zone and mission objective cards.


Round 1 Humans start



Rocket truck starts with a locked-on shot at the artillery tank landing only a single point of damage.


Scouts disembark from the transport and mark the rocket truck with their markers.


Infantry moves up to secure objective six and protect the truck from an unlikely charge


Tao transport moves up into the urban area.


Infantry secures the water source and objective number four with it. They wanted to spread a bit more to deny a corner deployment for the Tao ambushing forces but in the end, decided to stick in a more or less tight formation for the "safety in numbers".


Scouts disembark into the buildings.


and mark the rocker truck even more.


Infantry moves out of cover to take over objective 2. They fire on the scouts destroying one stand.
They did not need to move out of cover to rife at the scouts and in the short future, we will see that moving them out of cover was unnecessary.



Canon truck moves up and destroys the scout formation.



Warriors disembark from the second transport and fire at the infantry but fail to do any damage.


Second rocket truck moves up and fires at the transport dealing 3 points of damage and pinning the unit.


Cavalry moves up to charging position


Transport moves up to secure objective one.


Rail tank fires on the rocker truck using all of the marker light tokens, A lucky six and a deadly six cannon means that the truck blows up in smoke.


Tao warriors(?) shoot at the cavalry and kill two units.


Split fire damages the rocket truck



Second rocket truck moves up and fires at the transport doing 3 points of damage and pinning it.




Rail tank moves up and fires at the damaged rocket truck. It needs a 6 to hit and unfortunately, it does score a natural 6 hitting and killing!




End of round one Humans score one objective card


And draw an assassinate. The Tao commander is not yet on the field but all 3 objectives are achievable



Round 2 start



AT stormtroopers deploy in the second urban area near objective 1


The Tao supreme commander deploys behind enemy lines
I do not deploy my second stormtroopers 
Tao deploy their heavy suits in the table corner near objective 4 (as that is one of their goals).



Guard moves first and opens fire on the rail tank...


...dealing four points of damage (a rather bad outcome given the circumstances).



Scouts move up tag the second rocket truck with their spotting lasers and fire at the infantry without any damage.



The marked truck pulls back and fires at the heavy suits destroying one and causing 1 point of damage on another.


Tao commander fires at the marked truck.


It blows up in flames!


The infantry in the water hole moves and fires at the heavy suits but does no damage.


Rail tank charges into the infantry. Its impact hits decimate their ranks leaving only two stands left. They fail their morale check and route. With this action, Tao gain the win melee by 3 objective!


Cavalry charges into the rail tank. they are able to deal 3 points of damage bringing it over half original strength and forcing morale


it fails the morale check and routes removing it from play.


With the consolidation move, they go into cover.


Infantry moves up and fires at the out-of-cover infantry killing 4 stands.


The said infantry moves double up behind the mountains to grab objective two.


Infantry from objective 3 fire at the AT storm troopers killing 2 stands.



Heavy suits  (which had to take some damage in the meantime and were reduced to a single stand) jump into cover and contest objective 4. It's quite a big problem because not I will not be able to control it throughout my entire turn!


Tank moves up and deals 5 points of damage to the transport contesting objective 1




Round 3

Anti-personnel Storm troopers ambush behind enemy lines!


Humans have the initiative and activate the ambush team. With its 24 flamer dice, they obliterate one infantry team in the open and fire their rifles at the heavily wounded transport taking it out!


Scouts mark up the tank and fire their rifles at the cavalry with no success.



Cavalry charges the Tao commander, they were able to deal three wounds but he passed his morale and stands his ground.




The previously pinned transport charges my infantry and decimates it completely!


Knowing that the Tao need to secure objective 1 I move the AT stormtroopers to a beachhead position and fire at the scouts with the anti-tank rifles eliminating one stand and at the infantry at objective 3 killing two stands.



The infantry from objective 3 moves up, marks up my tank with marker lights, and fires at the AT storm troopers killing 2 stands.



The marked tank pulls back and fires at the Tao commander obliterating him completely and scoring an objective!


The tank ended up out of range of the artillery tank!


The last heavy suit uses all the markers on the tank to increase its hit chances 


Fortunately, even the additional to-hit markers did not help to deal any damage


The infantry assaults the last heavy suit 


however, they fail to do any damage and actually lose two units in the process.


The artillery vehicle charges into the stormtroopers and decimates them. The rest of the unit routes


An entire unit eliminated for the price of a single wound!


Heavy suit fires again and this time it is able to deal 6 points of damage to the tank!





Turn 4

An unexpected turn of events, Tao pull a push the enemy out of the center card they will receive 2 vp if there are no enemy units within 6" of the center of the board and 1 vp if there are no within 12"



Heavy suit fires at the cavalry but fails to do any damage


Infantry from the water hole move up and fire at the wounded transport finishing it off!


Scouts move and fire up to the center of the board


The AP stormtroopers follow them and burn them up with their flamethrowers.


The rest of the infantry moves up and fires at the stormtroopers.


The light cannon truck rides up to deny objective 2 and the secure centre objective from the Tao


With these actions, we decided to end the battle.






End of game. Humans wins 6 to 3 points





Strider did a hell of a good job
the mission cards are a really nice addition to the game, they are a bit random but add a nice twist to the game (especially the secure the center one at the end).
Nice quick game really enjoyed it!
