These were painted in 2022 for the Solaris7.pl painting contest which I actually won with them!
Airbrush:
Black base undercoat (Vallejo)
I tried other approaches (mixing light flesh and such) but in the end, starting with the brightest and toning down gave the best result for me.

Zenithal: Cold grey (Vallejo)
Zenithal: white base zenithal (Vallejo) - pretty much overdid it, but the end result turned out superb!
Brush:
Army painter ( really don't like these paints but those were the ones I had)
Red armor:
Light red: two coats (since its opacity is almost zero) over all of the armor elements.
Red (either this one or Vallejo flat red, not sure at this point): one coat covering just the middle and/or lower sections of armor.

Grey uniform:
One coat of Army painter dark grey which actually made it a bit green but that looks quite nice to me.

Lenses were done with Vallejo white and 4-5 costs of Green Stuff World green (the glow-in-the-dark one) - this step I would not recommend. The GSW paint is terrible.
Gun and gasmask details were GW Contrast Black Templar and highlight with grey. The sharpest edges were 'dotted' with white.
Leather bags were done with two browns. Don't really remember which ones. Probably Vallejo red leather and/or Orange Brown?
Some metallic elements (on the heavy trooper) were done with Vallejo coper to make them just a little bit more interesting.
Painting end result, a bit over exposed. |
